The Fisk family can be traced back to the 14th century in East Anglia. William Fisk moved to St Albans in 1830s and set up a drapers store which would expand through three generations of Fisks, a prominent family in 19th century St Albans – James Fisk and his son were both mayors. The Fisk children were all involved in the Baptist church, mainly ministers or wives of ministers. Ebenezer Edwards Fisk’s son George William Fisk was a missionary in China but moved away from the church and was a mining superintendent before returning to England to pursue his interest in the paranormal and to meet up again with his only child, Muriel Fisk.
